The cost of a new deck will depend on the overall design and scope of the project as well as the specific material choices. Our typical deck projects start around $30,000 but may be up to $65,000 to $100,000. Some larger projects however, can be as much as $175,000 to $250,000. Once we know more about what’s important to you for the overall project, we can better advise you of an approximate cost.
No. Due to changes in the building code, deterioration of the existing framing and our strict quality standards, using any part of your old deck would not make for the best outcome of the finished project. Also, installing premium composite decking products on top of an old, worn and weathered deck frame would not be worth it in the end. The new products will far outlast the old framing.
No. In addition to the reasons above, a roof can not be added to an existing deck unless that deck was originally built to support the additional load of a roof.
No. We do not offer repair services for existing decks unless the deck was originally built by us.
No. We mostly install premium composite decking or vinyl decking. However, on some occasions we will install exotic hardwoods such as Ipe or Mahogany decking.
No. While some companies advertise “free estimates”, we take a very detailed approach to the assessment, design and construction of your new deck. Therefore, we do charge a small fee of $75 to come to your home, review your project, assess the work site and obtain all of the measurements and photos needed to design your project. At this site visit, we will also advise you on what will work best for your project based on your needs, wants and the space for the project. Of course, the $75 fee is credited to the cost of the project.
Yes. We specialize in designing custom outdoor spaces based on your vision and your ideas for the perfect backyard space. The cost for the design work will vary based on the size and scope of the project, but it will range anywhere from $200 to $800. Some complex, large or specialized designs may go above that. The design fee is credited to the cost of the project.
Yes. Once we have a contract with you for your project, we will prepare a full set of construction drawings for your deck. We will then handle the entire permit application process, schedule inspections and deal with the inspectors on-site.
Yes. We are fully licensed and insured in Maryland and Pennsylvania. We carry the proper liability insurance as well as workers comp. Some builders are not licensed or insured which can ultimately leave you liable should the project not be built up to code or if someone gets hurt on your property.
Our craftsmanship warranty is 5 years for new decks and screened porches and 3 years for hardscapes. Most of the products we use have warranties that range from 50 years to lifetime.
Both. Our employees perform the majority of our work, such as building decks, screened porches and finished basements. Additionally, our employees go through regular, in-house training as well as industry and manufacture training. We may use specialty contractors for other aspects of your project such as electrical, plumbing and hardscaping/landscaping.
